The best local band ever (that doesnt exist anymore)

January 16th, 2009

After years of searching for this cd, I finally found it. The band is a few years old the cd is from 2004. It’s called Above the Watertowers The band is April Invention. I have never heard them live. I think I listened to them originally on their myspace. But I had brought them up in class one day I had two songs on my iPhone that I took of their myspace (out in the country and god vs. sheep). I ended up getting the cd from someone in my lighting class who knew the band. Now I have my favorite song of theirs, trailer 1999. The whole cd is now on my computer in Apple Lossless. If anyone from the band contacts me and says it’s ok I’ll zip it up and make a torrent to share but it’s not my place to make that call. But this is by far the best local band that you’ll never hear.

Update: you can hear harrisons new project titled Harrison Ray’s Magic Ghost at http://www.myspace.com/670047

modern guilt = classic beck

July 5th, 2008

ok i downloaded the new beck cd titled modern guilt a few days ago, its not out until the 8th. thats why i downloaded it. im gonna buy it as soon as it comes out though. it sounds like beck should sound and i like it. one song does not stand out over another though. but its an overall good album. produced by danger mouse who most people have heard of through his project with cee-lo, gnarles barkley. oh and he also produced the 2005 gorillaz album demon days. i vote you should buy this album on the 8th if you like beck at all. its not disappointing.

the modest mouse show last night

June 27th, 2008

im sure most of you know my favorite band is modest mouse. i went to the show at house of blues in myrtle beach last night. they played some songs i wasnt expecting, broke and here it comes, but anyways back to my story. i was next to these ugly, drunk, and trampy bar girls, you know the annoying girls that surround you with cigarette smoke and slut dance to anything and spill there drinks on anyone around them. there was something else that bothered me as well. the two 11 year old girls that just stood there, i guess they just wanted to hear dashboard. and if that wasnt enough to aggravate me, i got there late so i wasnt anywhere near the stage with the people that have listened to modest mouse beyond dashboard and float on. so everyone around me was just standing not into it at all. good set with about a 50/50 mix of new songs to classics like truckers atlas was amazing. but anyways other than the annoyances it was a good show i just wish i could have been upclose.
