free stuff? yes please.

January 12th, 2010

Not only do I go to school for film and work on films I also sell computers at a national retail chain to pay my bills. Several websites are available for me to do training and get merchandise from manufacturers for free or cheap. Like http://retailedge.intel.com/ or http://expertzone.microsoft.com/ and even Symantec/Norton has one for me to get free legit codes for all Norton software, but thats only for people like me. Anyways, so I got enough points and order this $160 jacket for free from Intel, I also got a Intel branded aluminum water bottle. Its pretty sick. I may not get paid as much as I do working on films but its pretty cool to get free stuff.

On the more personal side of my life. Im still dating Ariana (@ariscary or ariscary.com).

AND I GOT ALL MY BRAKE PARTS IN. (which means i’m no longer a danger to others on the road)

2010

January 1st, 2010

Its been a month since I last updated. Not much has happened. Christmas came and went. Ariana is visiting family in Virginia and we rescheduled our Florida trip to early march. After next semester ill be done with the Film Production Associates, I still plan on taking transfer classes and film classes though because its free. My schedule for next semester is: ART 105 (Film as Art), FLM 152 (Film Equipment), FLM 252 (Cinematography), and MAT 155 (Contemporary Mathematics) which happens to be the easiest math class that i could get away with. I still need my English and my exit review though, but ill take care of that after this coming semester cause I’m in no rush. I really wish there was an affordable 4 year film school somewhere around here though. If everything goes will ill be a camera intern on Army Wives which is what I’ve been trying to do since i started going to school.

i shot for “Swords: Life on the Line”

November 26th, 2009

Wednesday I got a chance to work on the Original Productions/Discovery Channel show “Swords: Life on the Line“. I have Anthony and Marty at High Output to thank for that. I picked up all the equipment from High Output and loaded it in my car Tuesday for the shoot on Wednesday. On Wednesday I woke up and drove to where the boat Big Eye was coming in from its trip, then me and the rest of the crew waited. When it was about to arrive they handed me a camera and told me to shoot. I got a chance to shoot shots that I know they will use of the boat pulling in to dock. Then I helped take all the mounted cameras off the boat and helped them shoot the shots of the crew for the title sequence. It was a great day for great pay.

wrap on Angel Camouflaged

November 20th, 2009

It was a blast being on set on Angel Camouflaged. I met a bunch of people and a few that are gonna hook me up with jobs in the camera department as a camera pa/intern (such as the 1st AC on Army Wives). One of which offered me some work with him in Wilmington, NC which is awesome. The director Michael Givens is an awesome guy and his kids are way lucky. I have a bunch of good behind the scenes pics here. There are also pics of the wrap party which involved tons of free alcohol and food. I’m glad I choose this as a career to pursue. Much better than paper pushing. It pays well too. I even got my first imdb credit. :) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3680177/

Angel Camouflaged

October 19th, 2009

IMG_0109I got a job on my first feature film. It’s called Angel Camouflaged. It’s starring James Brolin, Dilana Robichaux, and Warrick Grier. Its directed and shot by Michael Givens. I’m a Set PA (but i’m not getting paid so on paper i’m an intern) which means I’m the ADs bitch but luckily they like me. The 1st AD is Jewels Satterfileld who is nice when she can be which is fine cause her job isn’t to be nice. I’ve worked with both the 2nd AD (Ben Hammock) and the 2nd 2nd AD (Jason Scott) on the Cannon Street Boys. So that’s how I got the job on this. I’m excited to see a finished product. It looks really good so far.

I’m also almost done with school. Ill probably continue to go just to earn credits if i want to transfer and get a 4 year degree later. as of now though im pretty happy being on set and 12 hour days aren’t bad when its what you want to do.
